CITY OF COVINGTON NOTICE of PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS hereby given, per the City of Covington's Code of Ordinances Chapter 16.12 and Sec. 14.04.060 that the below zoning petitions and text amendments are submitted for consideration by the Covington Planning Commission and Mayor and Council for the following: A. Initiate a Zoning Ordinance Amendment to Sec. 16.16.190 - Special Events, Sec. 16.20.720 - Temporary Commercial Use (retail), Sec. 16.08.010 - definitions, and Sec. 16.16.020 - Use Table regarding the temporary use of properties for the issuance of temporary commercial and special event permits to allow limited-duration commercial activities and organized events not otherwise permitted by zoning regulations. Other sections of Title 16 - Zoning may be amended as it pertains to language for the above stated uses for compliance with other ordinance regulations and public safety. The Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on all items on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 @ 6:00 p.m. in the Covington Council Chambers, 2116 Stallings Street, Covington, GA. Meeting will be held in person. The Mayor and Council conducting the Final Public Hearing, Monday, February 16, 2026 @ 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 2116 Stallings Street, Covington, GA for the Special Use Permit(s) and 1st reading of Zoning Ordinance Amendment.
