NOTICE OF JUDICIAL VACANCY Pursuant to O.C.G.A. SS15-11-50(f), the Superior Court Judges of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit are seeking qualified applicants for two full-time Juvenile Court Judge positions for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, which includes the following counties: Newton and Walton. Two (2) applicants will be appointed as full-time Juvenile Court Judges of the circuit, with one (1) having an office in Newton County and one (1) having an office in Walton County. These will be four-year appointments by a majority vote of the Superior Court Judges in the circuit. Each full-time position will become effective January 1, 2025. Qualified applicants must be at least thirty (30) years of age, must have been a citizen of the state of Georgia for at least three (3) years, must have practiced law for at least five (5) years, and must be a member of the State Bar in good standing. A Juvenile Court Judge shall be eligible for reappointment. Travel throughout the circuit and some limited state travel will be required. It shall be unlawful for a full-time judge to engage in any practice of law outside his or her role as a Juvenile Court Judge.
